if you were able to understand that sentence you may already qualify for "advanced beginner status"

we repeat it in English: Welcome on the website of the German Language School of Zion-St. Mark's

now that you learned your first German sentence we give you another freebie:

BLACK-RED-GOLD

are the national colors of the Federal Republic of Germany.

If we have piqued your interest so far, you are probably all set to learn how to speak German. Now you can either buy a book and learn at home, which is the worst way to do it, or you can book a flight and fly right away to Munich, sit down in the Englischer Garten and pick up as much German from the friendly people there as you can.

BUT there is a third way: Go where the Germans are in New York! If you want to learn German in a real German atmosphere, there is no place but Zion-St. Mark's Language School.

teachers and some students of ZSM's school

(some students and teachers of ZSM's language school)

For over 10 years Zion-St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church  has taught German to students from all over the world. ZSM is the only German speaking congregation left in the former German district of Yorkville in Manhattan. Most of our members are Germans and all of our teachers are! Here you not only find professional teachers with University Degrees in Teaching German as Foreign Language, you also find the cultural background which lets you pick up much more than only the language. Learn from us how Germans live, behave, celebrate, and much more.

(Zion-St. Mark's church in Manhattan where the school is located)

So join us and learn how to order another Bratwurst at our annual Steubenfest, how to read the "Spiegel", how to understand Schiller's "Ode to joy", find out what Goethe's Faust was up to, how to understand the manual of your new Audi or Porsche or how to flirt with Germans on the internet. Our basic, intermediate and advanced courses will make you speak German fluently and understand German culture. Our special courses for business and legal German will give you the tools to successfully act on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange or read BMW's balance sheets. Our specialized literature course will lead you into the depths of Goethe's or Kant's thoughts.
